By Clint Black
How could the song of the month not include the word “better;” and what a wonderful tie to this Clint Black mega hit.
His Killin’ Time album (his first) went platinum. He was named Country Artist of The Year. A Better Man was a number one hit. You get the message about the success of a country artist who insists on a sound that is more along what would be considered traditional country music.
Certainly, the reflective nature of the music and words blend nicely with the idea of addressing past actions and future focus. In many ways I believe it mirrors thoughts that all cancer patients have when evaluating their life’s decision.
To come away from any of our decisions knowing or at least feeling that we will be a so-called “better person” or in this song’s case a “better man” is a gift we give ourselves.
Reflect and enjoy.
