Little River Band
LRB, Little River Band (Australian) gained popularity in the late 70’s and early 80’s. While never achieving commercial superstardom, they did produce some terrific melodies that gained them numerous stays on the pop charts.
I recently listened to an interview with the writer of this song (Glenn Sherrock) where he reminisced about the Band’s uncertainty in recording and putting the song on the Band’s second album because it was such a personal reflection. They were very concerned that it would fall flat. It was initially released as a single only in the US.
Well, it went on to become their biggest hit. In 2001 it was selected by the Australasian Performing Right Association as one of the top 30 Australian songs of all time!
